Sound is not just a particular frequency, wavelength, and amplitude traveling at 1100 ft./s. The energy of sound carries the imprint of the tune, tone, rhythm, harmony, space, emotion, and spirit of music. We call the totality of that, the ‘meaning’ of the music. It’s not just “heard”, it’s imprinted on the listener, the building, and all natural surroundings where it is heard.
(In most contexts, we are at a total loss to explain this in words, so we use story, metaphor, symbolism, poetry and song. Non-fiction struggles with the linear and dissociated nature of a language like English, and the long-suffering reader is left struggling to understand – while suspecting the author hasn’t a clue what they’re talking about.)
A great place to experience this directly is the Massey Hall in Toronto. Standing on the stage you can feel the resonance, the echo of every performance that has ever taken place, recorded in and imprinted in the space and the wood of the magnificent structure. The downside is that objects and buildings carry the energetic imprint of thought, memory, emotion and behavior, however crazy.
The energy of nature, of landscape, of the wind, of moving water, of rocks and of mountains, expresses such an imprint, including the imprint of everything it has previously received. The same applies to bodies in the solar system, and all stars, constellations and galaxies.
We are completely surrounded by, and immersed in, an ocean of vibration, quality, imprinted energy, information and meaning. We are constantly informed by and acted upon by what we receive from all sources, including the ”echo”. And all perception is reciprocal, across time as well as across space. The exchange of energy/information across time is the same, time is not just a one-directional flow, but a mandala, a function of the ocean of resonance.
Experiencing, feeling, this as awareness, we call it “Presence “. Recognizing presence, and how it is self-existing, primordial and uncreated, we also realize our own true nature, as consciousness itself.
Standing outdoors on a clear night, gazing at the stars, we experience that awesome sense of presence as universal and instantaneous, regardless of the speed of light from distant stars. It also helps couples fall in love.
All energy is information in this way, and the signal carries the imprint of qualities and meaning being expressed by the source. This is also the case with healing or “spiritual“ energies such as BG3 in Dr. Ibrahim Karim’s BioGeometry, perceptible, even tangible, in sacred sites around the world. Even the one universal and harmonizing energy is not just energy but also information and meaning, like music.
The dynamic processes of open-system energy exchange happen throughout existence, and people can detect incredibly subtle differences by focusing our attention.
However we each perceive energy, it is a reciprocal and interactive process.
